QCPD distributes 179 body-worn cameras to cops for BSKE security

Brig. Gen. Redrico Maranan, Quezon City Police District (QCPD) director, led on Thursday, Sept. 14, the distribution of 179 body-worn cameras (BWCs), drones, and other equipment to his men tasked to secure the conduct of Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) 2023 in the city.

The distribution of the equipment was held at the QCPD headquarters in Camp Karingal.

The BWCs donated by the city government were handed to the policemen who will be deployed to 107 polling precincts in the city on election day, Oct. 30.

"The use of these tools will guarantee that every action taken during the election is precisely recorded," QCPD said.

The city police also launched on the same day the Task Force District Anti-Crime Reaction Team (TF-DART).

The team, composed of  skilled and well-trained motorcycle-riding operatives, was created to prevent criminal activities, provide immediate response to various incidents, and support the electoral process to maintain peace and order during campaign period and the BSKE. It will be led by Acting Deputy District Director for Operations (ADDDO) Police Col. Josefino D Ligan.

QCPD said the team is equipped with 22 motorcycles, body vests, BWCs, tactical helmet, and hand-held radio units.

Maranan thanked Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte for the providing the devices and other equipment that will strengthen law enforcement during the BSKE next month.
