NPA weapons stash found in Cagayan

CAMP Marcelo Adduru, Tuguegarao City, Cagayan – Police unearthed a New People’s Army arms cache during a search operation in Sitio Lanay, Barangay Santa Margarita, Baggao, Cagayan.

Found were two generators, five rifle grenades, two blasting caps, six CTG, 40mm, HEDP M433, a 98-inch long commercial detonating cord, 236 inches of No. 22 stranded wire, 139 inches of No. 14 stranded wire, three nine-volt batteries, four Christmas bulbs, submersible materials, and medicines.

Two former NPAs, alias “Renz” and “Fernando,”  provided information to the Cagayan Provincial Intelligence Unit that led to the discovery of the weapons stash.

Explosive items are now in the custody of the Provincial Explosive and Canine Unit (PECU)-Cagayan. The rest is in the custody of the Baggao police for investigation and documentation.

The operation seeks to clear forests that could be used by communist guerrillas as observations posts against authorities.
