Offices from the local government of Pasig City underwent consultation workshops to update their sectoral databases that will aid the administration’s push for data-driven governance.
The four-day workshop was attended by heads and senior technical staff from varying sectors in the government such as social development, infrastructure development, economic development, institutional development, and environmental management.
The workshop sought to discuss and review their respective data systems, particularly in updating the Ecological Profile (EP) and Local Development and Investment Program (LDIP).
The EP covers the “physical, biological, socioeconomic, cultural and built environments” of cities, according to the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG). In this case, it refers to the totality of Pasig’s components including its geography, population, economy, etc.
On the other hand, the LDIP pertains to the allocation of resources and general funds for the city’s programs, projects, and activities (PPAs).

Among the topics discussed were the use of data analytics or statistical information as a basis of planning processes in the local government, as well as a presentation of a 2021 census in relation to the Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS).
Presentations on basics in data visualization using infographics, and technical writing on statistical reports and data were also included. These were shared in order to guide offices on more effective ways to layout and present data using charts and graphs that are comprehensive but reader-friendly.
This activity is part of the Pasig city government’s mandate of data-driven decision and policy making, ensuring the easy access of updated data and determining appropriate programs, projects, and activities per government sector.
The workshop was led by the City Planning and Development Office, with resource speakers from the University of the Philippines - Planning and Development Research Foundation, Inc. (PLANADES).
