ILOILO CITY – Police arrested the most wanted person in Western Visayas in Leganes, Iloilo on Tuesday, September 12.
The 48-year-old suspect was arrested by the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO)-Jaro Police Station and the Leganes Municipal Police Station.
Police withheld the name of the suspect, a construction worker, wanted for statutory rape and sexual abuse.
Police Regional Office (PRO)-6 spokesperson Police Major Mary Grace Borio said that the suspect’s name was withheld to protect the identity of the victim.
Borio said the suspect was arrested on a warrant dated August 23 issued by Judge Nelson Bartolome of the Regional Trial Court Branch 32.
No bail was recommended for the rape case but the court recommended a P200,000 bail for the sexual abuse charge.
PRO-6 chief Police Brig. Gen. Sidney Villaflor cited the ICPO-Jaro Police Station and Leganes Municipal Police Station for arresting the suspect.
“Hindi po kami titigil sa pagtugis sa mga taong may pananagutan sa batas, para mabigyan ng hustisya ang inyong mga biktima. Sa atin pong mamamayan, magtulungan po tayo sa pamamagitan ng pagbibigay ng mga impormasyon na makakatulong para sa ikakadakip (We won’t stop pursuing people wanted by the law to give justice to the victims. We ask the people to help us by providing information that would lead to the arrest of suspects),” said Villaflor
