Mayor Honey distributes financial aid to 250 families affected by fire

Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan led the distribution of financial aid to over 250 families affected by the 10 fires that occurred in Baseco and districts 1, 2, 5, and 6, from Sept. 1 to 6.
The distribution was held at the Bulwagang Villegas, Manila City Hall, on Wednesday, Sept. 13.
According to Re Fugoso, head of the Manila Department of Social Welfare (MSDW), 254 families received P10,000 each, while 35 individuals were given P3,000 each.
The city government said it allotted a total of P2.6 million for the financial aid of the fire victims.
Ito ay isa lamang sa napakaraming pagsubok na dinaraanan natin (No one likes what happened to you and we know you won't give up. This is just one of the many trials we go through),” the mayor said.
The lady mayor also assured the fire victims that the local government will always be there to provide whatever assistance is possible to help them start anew.
Ito ay isa na namang pagsubok at makakaasa kayo na kami ay kaagapay ninyo (Please expect that your government will always be with you in these times and as much as we can we will help you and we will help you get back on your feet. This is another test and you can count on us to be with you),” she said.
We are still lucky that although the fire consumed your property, you were able to protect yourselves.. you are with us in getting back up again....let's help each other...hopefully, whatever you have left of your livelihood will help again in another new life)," she added.

The local chief executive also reminded the fire victims to continue being cautious against doing anything that may trigger fire and asked them to do their best to avoid repeating the same mistakes.
We will try to help you again in the future. Just a reminder, it is very difficult to be fire victims. I hope each of us will continue to try to be careful to avoid this tragedy from happening again),” the mayor stressed.
Aside from the monetary assistance, MDSW also provided them with hot meals, temporary shelter, clothing, and hygiene products.
