LPA may dissipate in 48 hours; 'habagat' to bring scattered rains in most of PH
The Low Pressure Area (LPA) being monitored by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) is still not expected to develop into a tropical cyclone and "may possibly" dissipate within the next 48 hours.

"Hindi rin po natin inaasahan na ito'y magiging isang bagyo [at] posible ring mag-dissipate o matunaw na itong binabantayan nating Low Pressure Area within the next 48 hours. (We do not expect it to develop into a tropical cyclone [and] it is also possible that the Low Pressure Area that we are monitoring will dissipate within the next 48 hours),” PAGASA weather specialist Ana Clauren-Jorda said on Wednesday, Sept. 13.
Jorda added that the LPA was surrounded by thin layers of clouds making it not directly affect any parts of the country.
"Kung makikita po natin sa ating satellite imagery ay manipis na kaulapan lang po ang bumabalot dito kaya wala po itong direktang epekto sa ano mang bahagi ng ating bansa (As we can see from our satellite imagery, only thin clouds surround the LPA, that is why it has no direct effect to any parts of the country)", Jorda said.
The said LPA was last seen at 490 kilometers East of Itbayat, Batanes according to Jorda.
Meanwhile, the southwest monsoon, or “habagat” is still affecting the western portion of Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
With this, PAGASA said that partly cloudy to cloudy skies with scattered rain showers will prevail in Metro Manila, Pangasinan, Central Luzon, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, all parts of Visayas, Bicol Region, Zamboanga Peninsula, Bangsamoro Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), Northern Mindanao, and some parts of CARAGA Region.
On Thursday, Sept. 14, PAGASA said that cloudy skies for the whole day while scattered rain showers at noon until night will be experienced in Metro Manila, Central Luzon, MIMAROPA, CALABARZON, and parts of Bicol Region due to "habagat."
For Northern Luzon, Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, and Visayas, partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers are expected at night on Sept. 14, PAGASA said,
For the next three days, PAGASA said that hot and humid weather conditions are expected in Metro Manila while isolated and brief rain showers will be experienced at night due to localized thunderstorms. (Lizst Torres Abello)
