Fake heiress Anna Delvey brings NYFW crowd to the rooftop of her building

The inspiration behind Netflix's ‘Inventing Anna’ teams up with PR maven Kelly Cutrone for a runway presentation

Even though she is under house arrest, Anna Delvey made sure that she is part of this season's New York Fashion Week (NYFW) festivities. The infamous con artist threw a runway show and a party at the rooftop of her building in the East Village of New York.

To make it possible, Anna Delvey, Anna Sorokin in real life, partnered with  PR maven Kelly Cutrone, who is famous to many for her appearances in TV shows  “The Hills” and “America's Next Top Model.” The two launched a pop-up firm called OutLaw Agency, with its first project centering on the latest works of designer Shao Yang.

Shao's runway show, her debut in NYFW, plays with the juxtaposition of masculine and feminine aesthetics. It featured models donning tailored suit ensembles, corsets, denim pieces, which, according to Dazed, is a nod to “Yang’s love of the ’80s and her Brooklyn roots.”

Only a few were able to witness the runway show due to the limited space of the venue---about 50 people, as per People Magazine. For the event, Anna donned a piece created by Shao, with an ankle monitor completing the look.

Anna is the inspiration behind Netflix’s hit series “Inventing Anna.” After posing as a German-born heiress and scamming banks and art dealers, among others, she was found guilty of grand larceny and theft in 2019. She served time in prison before being placed under house arrest in October 2022.
