Filipinos in need of jobs are encouraged to seek opportunities in Taiwan as the island will be needing about 800,000 workers by the end of year.
Silvestre Bello III, chairman of the Manila Economic and Cultural Office (MECO) in Taiwan, on Wednesday, Sep. 13, encouraged Filipino workers, particularly those unemployed, to apply in Taiwan, where labor conditions are good and "Filipino workers are attractive for employers."

"Ang treatment ng mga employers ay napakaganda. Bihira ka makarinig na di binabayaran sweldo, pinaghihigpitan. More than 1 year na ko, pero tignan mo wala pa ako naririnig o pumunta sakin na nagcomplain (The treatment of employers to their employees is very good. You can barely hear complaints of unpaid wages and abuse. I've been here for more than a year, but no one has ever gone to me to file their complaints)," Bello said in an interview with Teleradyo.
Among those needed are teachers, hospitality workers, caregivers and construction workers, Bello, a former Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) secretary, added.
About 28,000 teachers are needed in Taiwan, he said. The basic monthly salary for fresh graduate teachers may reach up to P100,000, while those licensed may reach up to P150,000, he added.
Bello said the Taiwanese government will announce its opening for workers by December.
Meanwhile, amid Taiwan's conflict with China, Bello assured Filipinos of their safety.
He said he already talked to Taiwanese authorities, who said Filipinos living Taiwan are protected as if they are locals.
