CABANATUAN CITY, Nueva Ecija – Police arrested 26 persons and seized 52 loose firearms and four explosives since the start of the Commission on Elections gun ban for the barangay elections in this province on August 28.
Police Col. Richard V. Caballero, Nueva Ecija police chief, said 22 firearms were confiscated in buy-bust operations, Comelec checkpoints, “Oplan: Sita,” police response, “Manhunt Charlie,” and implementation of search warrants in the period ending September 11.
On the other hand, 27 loose firearms were surrendered under the Philippine National Police’s “Balik Baril” program.
Two explosives were seized through search warrants and the other two were surrendered by former rebels to the 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company.
