Stay true to sworn duties, Mayor Honey tells LGU employees

Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna reminded all employees of the local government unit (LGU) to stay true to their oath of office and perform their duties honestly as the city celebrates the 123rd anniversary of the Philippine Civil Service.
Lacuna-Pangan made the call during the flag-raising ceremony on Monday, Sept. 11 at the Manila City Hall, where she led the kick-off of the Civil Service Month.
"Paalala lamang po... dahil tayo ay nagdiriwang ng ika-123rd anibersaryo ng ating civil service ay marapat lamang po na patuloy tayong maging tapat sa ating mga tungkuling sinumpaan nung tayo po ay maging kasapi ng pamahalaang lungsod ng Maynila (Just a reminder... since we are celebrating the 123rd anniversary of our civil service, it is only fitting that we continue to be faithful to our duties sworn when we became members of the city government of Manila)," the mayor said.
During her short address, she also cited the missing words that she noticed in the “Panunumpa sa Watawat” recited by employees during every ceremony.
"Ako ay nakikiusap sa inyong lahat na tuwing sasapit ang ating flag ceremony ay me mali tayong ginagawa ang 'Panunumpa sa Watawat' mali ang bigkas natin tinatalo pa tayo ng mga mag-aaral (Every flag ceremony our oath of the flag is pronounce wrongly, the students can even beat us on this)," she said.
According to the mayor, instead of merely stating "maka-Diyos at maka-kalikasan (pro-God and pro-nature)", the said portion should be stated as "maka-Diyos, maka-tao, maka-kalikasan at maka-bansa (pro-God, pro-human, pro-nature and pro-nation)."
She asked the next city departments that will host the flag-raising ceremony to apply her notes and corrections.
The city government said that it is preparing some activities as part of Civil Service Month.
