Scattered rainshowers, thunderstorms to prevail due to LPA trough, 'habagat'
Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated or scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms will prevail in most parts of the country due to the southwest monsoon (habagat) and the trough of the Low Pressure Area (LPA) being monitored by the state weather bureau.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Tuesday, Sept. 12 that the southwest monsoon still affects the western portion of Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
With this, cloudy skies with scattered rain showers are expected in Metro Manila, MIMAROPA, Zambales, Bataan, Western Visayas, Bangsamoro, and the Zamboanga Peninsula.
Based on its forecast, PAGASA said huge portions of Luzon and Visayas will experience cloudy skies due to the southwest monsoon on Sept. 13.
Meanwhile, PAGASA the trough of the LPA inside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) is affecting the eastern section of Luzon and Northern Samar.
"Iyong binabantayan nating low-pressure area sa loob ng ating Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) ay huling namataan sa layong 710 kilometers East of Itbayat, Batanes (The low pressure area that we are monitoring within our Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) was last spotted at a distance of 710 kilometers east of Itbayat, Batanes),” PAGASA weather specialist Chenel Dominguez said.
Dominguez added that the chances of the LPA developing into a typhoon remain low. However, due to the LPA trough, overcast weather with scattered rain showers in the eastern section of Luzon and also in Northern Samar can be expected.
For the rest of the country, PAGASA said generally fair weather with chances of localized thunderstorms at night may be expected on Sept. 13.
The eastern section of Luzon and the eastern section of Mindanao may also experience generally fair weather with chances of localized thunderstorms in the afternoon and night.
Based on the PAGASA weather forecast, cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers due to “habagat” will also be experienced in Metro Manila on Sept. 14. (Lizst Torres Abello)
