The Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) has partnered with a Japanese IT company NEOJAPAN to automate its administrative processes.
With this partnership, PEZA is set to lead the Philippine government as one of the first agencies in the country to use NEO as a standard operating office system.
During PEZA’s trip to Japan last Sept. 1, PEZA Director General Tereso O. Panga and NEOJAPAN’s Senior Director Tsuneko Aoki signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) granting PEZA with free access to NEO and Appsuite, enabling its digitization, automation, and centralization of internal documents and processes until the end of 2023.
NEO, a desknet tool, is utilized by 40 percent of Japanese Local Government Units (LGUs), ministries such as the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communication, universities such as The University of Tokyo, and large enterprises like Toyota, Mitsubishi Motors, Mizuho, Pilot, and Fujifilm.
The MOU is in compliance with Republic Act No. 10173, which safeguards individual personal data in government and private sector information and communications systems.
The collaboration is a part of PEZA's initiatives to support the Department of Trade and Industry's (DTI) mission of fostering a science, technology, and innovation-driven digital revolution in the Philippines. (Ma. Joselie C. Garcia)
