The Parañaque City government distributed cash assistance to 129 small rice retailers affected by the implementation of the rice price cap.
Mayor Eric Olivarez said the small rice retailers from Districts 1 and 2 were given P15,000 each by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).
Olivarez said the 129 small rice retailers were those who qualified in the DSWD sustainable livelihood program.
He said the distribution of cash assistance is part of the national government's help, in coordination with the local government units, to small rice retailers affected by the implementation of the price ceiling on regular-milled and well-milled rice.
The mayor said the distribution of cash assistance was held after the flag-raising ceremony on Monday, Sept. 11, at the City Hall quadrangle.
Olivarez said DSWD-NCR Regional Director Atty. Michael Joseph Lorico and DTI Assistant Secretary Agaton Teodoro Uvero were present during the distribution of cash assistance .
