ZAMBOANGA CITY – Smuggled cigarettes worth nearly P3 million were intercepted in the sea of Tumalutap Island here on Monday night, September 11.
These contrabands onboard a wooden watercraft marked FB Ommayah 3 were intercepted by members of the Zamboanga Second Mobile Group.
The vessel had four crew members from Sulu province but they failed to provide papers legalizing the transport of the cargo.
Police Lt. Ariel Jalatoria of the Zamboanga Second Mobile Group said they confiscated 84 master cases of smuggled cigarettes with an estimated market value of P2.9 million.
The vessel allegedly came from Sulu and was bound for Maguindanao when it was intercepted.
