Local logistics services provider Mober has expanded its fleet with 30 electric trucks and four three-wheelers, aiming to offer sustainable delivery solutions in the Southeast Asian green delivery market by year-end.
Mober now has 60 vehicles in total, including 39 electric trucks, 17 electric vans, and four three-wheelers.
With plans to build a fleet of 100 electric vans and trucks by year's end and a whopping 500 units over the following two years, the logistics firm has its sights set on the Southeast Asian green delivery industry.
Mober increased its dedicated fleet for IKEA Philippines earlier this year, reinforcing its dedication to crucial brands.
Due to this strategic alliance and recent growth, Mober is now a crucial partner for major multinational FMCG giants like Unilever Philippines and Nestlé Philippines.
A significant development is that the company is starting a pilot delivery program with the biggest coffee shop chain in the world, demonstrating its dedication to environmental efforts.
Mober is putting the finishing touches on a loan application with Land Bank of the Philippines and the Development Bank of the Philippines as it moves toward its sustainable goals.
The Electric Vehicle Industry Development Act (EVIDA Law), also known as Republic Act No. 1169, which promotes the use of electric vehicles in the Philippines, is strongly supported by both institutions.
Mober's CEO Dennis Ng said, “our unwavering dedication to merging efficiency with sustainability is evident in our aggressive push for electric vehicles. With each addition to our fleet, we're not merely growing – we're leading a shift towards a more sustainable Philippine logistics landscape.”
Mober emphasized its environmentally friendly direction earlier this year by teaming up with the giant Swiss coffee company Nespresso for a carbon-neutral delivery program.
Additionally, their partnership with What3words, a location technology company, optimizes the delivery process by enabling consumers to identify precise delivery locations using a unique three-word combination, ensuring accuracy and promptness.
Approximately 24 percent of all carbon emissions worldwide are produced by the logistics and transportation industry.
The European Environment Agency has warned that, without considerable actions, logistics might be responsible for approximately 40 percent of the world's CO2 emissions by 2050.
"We aim to be synonymous with green logistics. When businesses contemplate eco-friendly delivery solutions, Mober should invariably be their first thought," Ng added.
Meanwhile, the Philippine government is actively promoting electric vehicle adoption to reduce dependence on fossil fuels. The Department of Energy (DOE) and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) have proposed a temporary five-year tariff waiver, while President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. enacted Executive Order No. 12 series of 2023 which targets to open up electric vehicle availability to a wider Filipino audience.
