A 6.4-magnitude earthquake was recorded in Dalupiri Island, Cagayan at 7:03 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 12, the Philippine Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.

The earthquake has a depth of focus of 010 kilometers based on the data from Phivolcs.
Intensity IV was felt in Sinait, Ilocos Sur.
Phivolcs said that the earthquake was tectonic in origin, which was caused by the "movement of an active fault near the area."
No expected damage has been recorded as per Phivolcs.
