'Habagat' to affect most of PH; LPA extension brings rainshowers in N. Luzon
Cloudy skies with a high chance of isolated rain showers, lightning, and thunder due to southwest monsoon or 'habagat' will affect the areas of MIMAROPA, Bicol Region, Southern Luzon, Western Visayas, Northern Samar, Bangsamoro Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), and Zamboanga Peninsula, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Tuesday, Sept. 12, said.

"Kaninang alas tres, yung low pressure area na minomonitor natin ay huling namataan sa layong 790 kilometers East Northeast of Basco, Batanes (Earlier at 3 a.m, the lowpressure area that is being monitored was last seen at 790 kilometers East Northeast of Basco, Batanes)," PAGASA weather specialist Grace Castañeda said.
"Nananatiling mahina 'yung tyansa nito na maging bagyo ngunit 'yung trough o extension nito ngayong araw ay magdudulot pa rin ng mga pag-ulan sa ilang bahagi ng Northern Luzon (The chance remains low it to develop into a tropical cyclone, while its trough or extension will still cause rain showers to some parts of Northern Luzon)," she added.
Meanwhile, PAGASA said cloudy skies with scattered rain showers, lightning, and thunder will be experienced in Batanes and Cagayan due to the trough of weather systems.
In Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, partly cloudy to cloudy skies with chances of isolated rainshowers, lightning, and thunder due to localized thunderstorms will be experienced based on the PAGASA weather forecast.
PAGASA warned that during severe thunderstorms, the rainshowers might bring moderate to heavy rains that may cause flooding and landslides.
In the next three days, PAGASA said that high chances of rain showers, lightning, and thunder in Metro Manila due to the southwest monsoon might be expected.
PAGASA forecasted a possible chance of rain showers due to localized thunderstorms on Sept. 15. (Lizst Torres Abello)
