Caloocan gov't issues 10 single-ticketing devices to city police

The Caloocan City government issued 10 single-ticketing system (STS) devices to the Caloocan City Police Station (CCPS), on Monday, Sept. 11., to assist the law enforcers in implementing the Metro Manila Traffic Code of 2023.

The Metro Manila Traffic Code of 2023 issues the guidelines for the STS, which unifies the current regulation regarding the traffic enforcement and control in Metro Manila cities.

It aims to lessen traffic congestion in Metro Manila by banning vehicles that travel on public roads depending on their license plate.

This involves establishing consistent fines and penalties for typical traffic violations (disregarding traffic signs, Illegal parking (attended and unattended), number coding) and facilitating cooperation among various government agencies responsible for transportation and traffic management

The single-ticketing system for traffic violations in the National Capital Region (NCR) was implemented on May 2, 2023.

The Public Safety and Traffic Management Department (PSTMD) received a total of 30 new STS devices in August. The devices were distributed equally among the agency's agents in both North and South Caloocan.

Caloocan City Mayor Dale Gonzalo “Along” Malapitan stressed the importance of motorists and commuters' obedience to the newly implemented traffic regulations, not only to help  them avoid penalties but to prevent road accidents.

“Magkatuwang na po ang PSTMD at CCPS sa pagpapatupad ng STS kaya upang makaiwas tayo sa mga multa at lalong-lalo na sa mga aksidente, panatilihin po natin ang pagsunod sa mga batas-trapiko at laging makipagtulungan sa ating mga awtoridad (PSTMD and CCPS are now working together in implementing STS, so in order to avoid fines and, most importantly, accidents, let's continue to adhere to traffic laws and always cooperate with our authorities),” Mayor Along stated.

Malapitan also assured that proper protocols will be followed when apprehending and punishing violators.

He added they will remain dedicated to facilitating seamless and trouble-free interactions when it comes to handling traffic violations.

“May mga nakahanda na pong programa ang pamahalaang lungsod upang mas mapabilis at hindi masyadong nakaka-abala ang pagbabayad ng mga multa ng sinumang mahuhuling lalabag sa Single-Ticketing System (The city government has prepared programs to expedite and minimize the inconvenience of paying fines for anyone caught violating the Single Ticketing System),” Mayor Along said.

Malapitan also emphasized that they are expecting that the new ticketing device will help prevent any bribery or extortion on the roads.
