Smuggled fuel seized in Zamboanga City

ZAMBOANGA CITY – Thousands of liters of smuggled fuel on board a boat docked in a vessel docking facility here were seized by authorities on Saturday, September 9.

The Coast Guard District Southwestern Mindanao, Bureau of Customs, and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) found hundreds of drums of fuel inside the M/L Zshahuny II at Varadero port in Cawit.

An inventory conducted by authorities said the boat was loaded with 89,600 liters of diesel loaded in tanks, 198 drums loaded with diesel, and 48 empty tanks.

A tank is equivalent to 1,000 liters and a drum is equivalent to 200 liters.

PDEA conducted a paneling inspection aboard the vessel which yielded negative for the presence of drugs.
