Crowd favorite Rhenz Abando expressed his gratitude to the fans and the Gilas Pilipinas management for giving him support and opportunity in his maiden appearance in the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup.

“Mabuhay ka mahal kong Pilipinas,” Abando said on his Instagram post on Sunday, Sept. 10.
“Maraming salamat sa lahat ng sumuporta at nagtiwala, nagsilbi kayong inspirasyon at lakas sa bawat laban na ating hinarap,” he added.
The Santo Tomas, La Union native also appreciated the trust given to him.
“At maraming salamat sa mga boss, coaches at management sa tiwala at oportunidad na pinagkaloob nyo sa akin,” Abando concluded.
The 6-foot-2 guard gave the Nationals a boost in their last World Cup game against China where they won 96-75, tallying 14 points, five rebounds and an assist.
He averaged 5.2 points, 2.2 rebounds and 0.4 assist in five games of the World Cup.
Abando is still here in the Philippines, but he is expected to return to South Korea anytime soon to suit up for Anyang.
A Korean sports website disclosed that the PBA has requested for Abando's clearance to play in the Hangzhou Asian Games.
