Man tries to break into QC home, stabs police officer


A knife-wielding man was arrested by members of Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Novaliches Station (PS 4) after he tried to rob a house and stabbed a responding police officer in Barangay San Bartolome, Novaliches, Quezon City on Monday, Sept. 11.

Police identified the suspect as Adrian Gomez, 23, a resident of Barangay Bagbag, Novaliches, Quezon City.

According to the police report, one Felnarie Jolo was sleeping inside her home at Amethyst Street, Goodwill Homes, Novaliches when she was awakened by a loud noise coming from the roof.

When she went out to check, she saw the suspect armed with a bladed weapon trying to break into the house.

She approached Gomez, but the latter became aggressive, frightening the residents.

QCPD said PS 4 operatives responded to the area after receiving a report about a robbery incident.

The policemen approached and tried to pacify the suspect. They asked him to surrender the bladed weapon, but Gomez suddenly stabbed one of the policemen in the left hand.

This prompted one of the operatives to shoot Gomez.

The injured policeman was brought to Novaliches District Hospital while the wounded suspect was rushed to Quezon City General Hospital for medical treatment.

Gomez will be charged with robbery, alarm and scandal, and direct assault, police said.
