Sanny Boy O. Oropel, officer-in-charge of the DPWH Regional Office 6, said the completed 166-lineal meter concrete seawall constructed with anchorage piles and beams will provide greater safety against severe weather and serve as a strong coastal defense of Barangay Punta Cogon.

“Situated along the Visayan Sea, Barangay Punta Cogon is vulnerable to high tides, storm surges, and soil erosion. With the completion of the project, local residents are protected by an all-weather structure,” said Oropel.

With an allocation of P29.1 million, the project was implemented by DPWH Capiz 1st District Engineering Office. (Trixee Rosel)
