Bachelor drowns in Ilagan City river

ILAGAN CITY, Isabela – A 20-year-old bachelor drowned while swimming at the Abuan River here on Sunday, September 10.

Police identified the victim as Johnsen Pabro, a resident of Barangay Minallo, Naguilian, Isabela.

Investigation said the victim and his friend, Jerry Cabantac, were having a picnic and drinking session and decided to take a bath on the river.

However, they were swept by the strong current and Pabro drowned while Cabantac was able to swim to the shallow portion of the river.

Rescuers recovered the victim who was taken to a hospital where he was declared dead.
