40 Kadamay members in Bulacan yield

CAMP AQUINO, Tarlac City – Forty members of the Kalipunan ng Damayang Mahihirap (Kadamay) in Bulacan have withdrawn from the Communist Party of the Philippines front group.

These Kadamay members who forcibly occupied and settled in Barangay Siling Bata, Pandi, Bulacan burned the CPP-New People’s Army and Kadamay banners and pledged to support the government's peace and development initiatives.

They will join the Samahan ng Malayang Kapatiran para sa Kapayapaan (Samakka), a former Kadamay member-organization established by the Regional Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict 3 in October 2020.

The RTF-ELCAC 3 considered their surrender a historic stage in the fight to end the NPA’s more than 50 years of armed conflict and violence.

Brig. Gen. Joseph Norwin D. Pasamonte, 703rd Infantry Brigade chief, assured Kadamay members of the military’s continued support in the area not only for peace and security but also for development.

Armed Forces Northern Luzon commander Lt. Gen. Fernyl G. Buca said that this signifies the growing awareness on communist terrorist ideology.

Their surrender  was also in line with the observance of National Peace Consciousness Month with the theme Kapayapaan ay Responsibilidad ng bawat Mamamayan and an effort to foster and sustain the gains of peace.
