2 dead, 3 hurt in Ilocos Norte road crash

BATAC CITY, Ilocos Norte – Two persons died and three others were injured when their motorcycle with sidecar or “kurong-kurong” collided with a bus on the national highway in Barangay 18, Magnuang, here on Sunday, September 10.

Police identified the fatalities as Jonathan Parbo, 40, farmer, and Jomar Castillo, 20, residents of Barangay Pimentel, this city.

Investigation said the victims’ speeding northbound kurong-kurong occupied the lane and rammed the southbound Florida Bus driven by Luis Barroga, 60, of Barangay 27, Laoag City, this province.

Due to the impact of the collision, Pabro and Castillo were dragged on the road and died on the spot due to serious injuries.

Injured were the passengers of the kurong-kurong – Mary Cardenas, Mary Chris Pareja, and a nine-year-old child, also residents of Barangay Pimentel.

Barroga was unhurt and the injured were taken to the hospital.

Follow-up probe is ongoing.
