PAGASA monitoring two LPAs

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) monitored two low-pressure areas (LPAs) that formed near the country’s area of responsibility on Sunday, Sept. 10.

"Sa kasulukuyan ay dalawang low-pressure area ang ating minomonitor sa loob at labas ng ating Philippine area of responsibility. Una, itong LPA sa loob ng ating PAR. Kaninang alas-tres ng umaga, huli itong namataan sa layong 730 kilometers silangan-hilagang silangan ng Itbayat, Batanes (Currently, two low-pressure areas are being monitored inside and outside the Philippine area of responsibility. First is the LPA inside the PAR. Earlier at 3 a.m., it was last seen at 730 kilometers east-northeast of Itbayat, Batanes),” PAGASA weather specialist Daniel James E. Villamil said in its 4 a.m. live weather forecast.

"At ito namang low-pressure area na nasa labas ng ating PAR kanina ring alas-tres ng umaga, last location nito ay 2,025 kilometers silangan ng southeastern Luzon." (And the LPA outside our PAR, which was also seen earlier at 3 a.m. was at 2,025 kilometers east of southeastern Luzon),” Villamil added.

He said both LPAs are generally moving eastward.

They remain far from the country and have no direct effect on any part of the archipelago.

"Nananatiling maliit ang tyansa ng dalawang low-pressure area na maging mga bagyo within the next 24 to 48 hours (There is still a low chance for the two LPAs to develop into tropical cyclones in the next 24 to 48 hours),” Villamil said.

Hot and humid weather will prevail across the country over the next two to three days, with localized thunderstorms most likely in the afternoon or evening.

"Sa Metro Manila at sa nalalabing bahagi ng ating bansa ay mas maaliwalas ang panahong ating inaasahan. Magpapatuloy itong mainit at maalinsangang panahon. May tyansa ng mga localized thunderstorms o iyong mga pulo-pulong pag-ulan na may pagkulog at pagkidlat mamayang hapon hanggang sa gabi (In Metro Manila, fair weather conditions are expected. The hot and humid weather will continue. But there are chances of localized thunderstorms in the afternoon or evening),” Villamil said.

PAGASA said most of Luzon and Western Visayas will have “increasing chances” of rain showers due to the southwest monsoon, or “habagat,” towards the middle of the week. (Lizst Torres Abello)
