Marikina LGU pays tribute to fallen cops on Memorial Day
The Marikina City local government honored the fallen members of the local police force in commemoration of the 36th Police Memorial Day on Sunday, Sept. 10.

Marikina City Mayor Marcelino "Marcy" Teodoro led the ceremony, recognizing the "selflessness and dedication to public safety of all law enforcement personnel in the city."
“Today, we solemnly remember them. They gave their all in service of our country, in service of our city,” said Teodoro.
“Let us take inspiration from their courage, their loyalty and their commitment to service. They have left a legacy in the hearts of all of us present here,” he added.
District 1 Representative Marjorie Ann "Maan" Teodoro, Eastern Police District (EPD) Director Brig. Gen. Wilson Asueta, and Marikina Police Chief Col. Earl Castillo graced the ceremony.
Families of fallen police officers attended the ceremony, along with members of the Marikina police, Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Bureau of Jail and Penology (BJP), and representatives from civic organizations.
Rep. Teodoro also expressed her gratitude to the police officers who stayed true to their mandate "to serve and protect."

The memorial is conducted annually to honor the bravery and valor of members of the Marikina City Police Station (CPS) who have served the community and those who died in the line of duty.
Members of the city government and other agencies present at the event laid flowers and wreaths at the Marikina Police Memorial Monument inside the Loyola Memorial Park.
“More than a monument, it is a reminder for those who were once sons, daughters, sisters, brothers, fathers, and mothers; it is a salute to those who chose to spend their lives in service of others until the very end,” said the mayor.
Aside from the offerings, a 21-gun salute was also given by members of the Marikina police to honor their fallen comrades in the ceremony.
