BOLINAO, Pangasinan – A fisherman was attacked by a shark in the sea in the Ilocos region and taken to a hospital here on Saturday, September 9.
The Bolinao Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office rescued the victim after receiving a call from a concerned citizen.
"Sakay ng banca ang biktima at iba pa na mangingisda na nagtungo sa Ilocos Norte nang bigla nang atakihin ng pating kaya nagkasugat ng malaki sa kanyang hita at inuwi pa ang laman ng kanyang hita (The victim was riding a motor banca with other fishermen after fishing in Ilocos Norte when he was suddenly attacked by a shark. He was injured in the thigh and the flesh from his wound was taken home)," the Bolinao MDRRMO rescue team said.
The MDRRMO said the group was around 40 miles away from Bolinao when they received the rescue call.
“Pinik up namin ang biktima sa Luciente 1, Bolinao saka binigyan ng first aid (We picked up the victim in Luciente 1, Bolinao and was given first aid)," the MDRRMO said.
The victim who was unidentified also received a physical assessment before he was taken to the hospital.
