Construction worker drowns in well

LAOAG CITY, Ilocos Norte – A construction worker drowned in a newly constructed well in Barangay 40 Balatong, this city, on Saturday, September 9.

Police identified the victim Jaime Polenday, 24, from Barangay 10 Lubigan, Badoc, Ilocos Norte.

Investigation said Polenday was catching frogs in the well when he sought help from his companions.

His companions rushed to rescue him but he lost consciousness and sank.

Polenday was retrieved and taken to the hospital where he was declared dead as a result of cardiopulmonary arrest due to asphyxia secondary to drowning.
