LAUREL, Batangas – Nine buses were damaged in a grenade explosion in a terminal in Barangay Bugaan East here before dawn on Sunday, September 10.
Initial investigation said an unidentified man threw the grenade at the Magnificat Transport Terminal Station, resulting in a blast that shattered glasses and caused minor damage to the buses.
Nobody was killed or injured in the incident, police said.
Batangas police director Police Col. Samson Belmonte said the security guard was sleeping inside a bus when the explosion occurred at 3:30 a.m.
The incident was reported to the police at 3:50 a.m.
Police are conducting further investigation and coordinating with the bus management to gather more information about the incident.
The Laurel local government unit is cooperating to speed up the investigation.
Belmonte appealed to the people for information on the attack.
“Hindi po natin kinokonsinti ang mga ganitong gawain na nagreresulta ng kaguluhan at pagbasag ng katahimikan ng ating lugar. Sisiguraduhin po natin makikilala at mahuhuli natin ang mga taong may kagagawan nito. Sa ating mga mamayanan, ako po ay umaapila sa inyo na kung may alam kayo o may nakakakilala sa gumawa nito ay agad ninyong ipagbigay alam sa aming may awtoridad upang agad mapanagot ang mga ito (We do not condone such activities that result in chaos and break the peace of our area. We will make sure to identify and arrest the people who are responsible for this. To our residents, I am appealing to you that if you know or know someone who did this, please immediately inform our authorities so that they can be held accountable immediately),” Belmonte said.
