Cops net 15 drug suspects, over P480,000 'shabu' in QC buy-busts
Quezon City Police District (QCPD) operatives seized P488,920 worth of alleged shabu and collared 15 drug suspects in a series of buy-busts in the city on Wednesday and Thursday, Aug. 30 and 31.
The QCPD Holy Spirit Station (PS 14) identified three of the suspects as Marlon Hermosill, Dennis Peralta, Alexander Tizon, and Lusita Taraguso, who yielded 60 grams of alleged shabu worth P408,000.
PS 14 operatives launched the entrapment operation against the suspects at No. 22 Samat Road, Brgy. Holy Spirit, Quezon City after receiving information from a concerned citizen about their illegal drug trade in the area.
Also seized from the suspects were a yellow coin purse, and the buy-bust money, while one improvised gun was confiscated from Hermosilla.
The QCPD Talipapa, Project 4, Anonas, Kamuning, Galas, and Payatas Bagong Silangan Stations also launched buy-bust operations in their respective areas of responsibility on the said dates, which led to the arrest of 12 drug suspects and confiscation of P80,920 of "shabu."
The suspects will be charged for violation of Republic Act (R.A.) 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
An additional charge for violation of R.A. 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act will be filed against suspect Hermosilla.
Meanwhile, the QCPD also arrested 17 persons for illegal gambling on the same day.
The suspects were caught playing illegal gambling games such as "cara y cruz," "tong its," and "EZ 2."
Several illegal gambling paraphernalia and bet money were confiscated from the suspects. They will be charged for violation of Presidential Decree 1602 or the Anti-Illegal Gambling Law.
