Comelec sets new schedule of COC filing for Metro Manila, 2 other provinces

The Comelec has issued new schedules for the filing of Certificates of Candidacy (COCs) for the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) following the suspension of government work due to the inclement weather.
In a post on Thursday night, Aug. 31, Comelec said for the National Capital Region (NCR), COC filing will resume on Sept. 2 and will be until Sept. 4.
For the province of Abra, it will resume on Sept. 1 and will be until Sept. 4; for Ilocos Norte, it will be until Sept. 3.
For the rest of the country, COC filing will end on the original date scheduled which is Sept. 2.
Based on Comelec's data and the partial report as of 10 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 1, a total of 944,525 have filed their COCs.
This consists of 70,925 who aspire to be barangay chairpersons while 518,383 are looking to be part of the barangay council members.
Comelec's data also showed that there were 58,914 who are gunning for the position of SK chairperson, while 296,103, are looking to be SK council members.
