Cardinal Sin's house in Aklan to be transformed into a museum
The house of the late Jaime Cardinal Sin’s family in the province of Aklan is set to be transformed into a museum.

Located in the town of New Washington, the project was approved following the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement between the Diocese of Kalibo and the Serviam Foundation, which acts as the property’s custodian.
According to the CBCP, the MoA was signed during a ceremony held after a holy mass presided over by Antipolo Bishop Ruperto Santos at the Manila Cathedral to mark the 95th birth anniversary of Cardinal Sin on Aug.
Monsignor Rolando dela Cruz and Fr. Rufino Sescon Jr. signed for the Serbian Foundation while Bishop Jose Corazon Tala-oc, and Fr. Justy More of the diocese’s Historical, Research, Cultural Council signed for the Diocese of Kalibo.
Msgr. Dela Cruz said the diocese must “make use of the house for their cultural heritage purposes. The museum will also preserve the memory of Cardinal Sin, and educate future generations about his life and teachings.”
For his part, Fr. More said the museum is also intended to house a collection of ecclesiastical artifacts and archival materials.
“We aim to provide visitors with a unique opportunity to learn about the significant historical events and tangible heritage that shaped the Diocese of Kalibo’s remarkable journey of faith,” he said.
The Diocese of Kalibo has recently begun a three-year preparation for its 50th anniversary in 2026.
