The ad interim appointments and nominations of 30 Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) generals, flag officers, and senior military officers have officially been confirmed by the Commission on Appointments (CA).
AFP Chief of Staff Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr. bannered the officers that also included a colonel, 25 commodores/brigadier generals, and three major generals.
Brawner was appointed as the AFP chief by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on July 21 which paved the way for him to earned his fourth star.
“The confirmation of appointments made by the President is a Constitutional exercise. It also signifies the AFP’s affirmation of civilian authority over the military as enshrined in the Philippine Constitution,” Lt. Col. Enrico Gil Ileto, chief of AFP public affairs office, said on Thursday, Aug. 31.
Brawner and the other officers got the CA nod last Aug. 30 after they were proven to be “fit and qualified” to be promoted to their ranks.
