3 siblings in Iloilo yield P1.36-M shabu


CONCEPCION, Iloilo – Suspected shabu worth at least P1.36 million was seized from four drug pushers, including three siblings, in Lemery, Iloilo on Friday, September 1.

Police identified the suspects as siblings 34-year-old Shiela Mae Francisco Yu, 29-year-old Bryan, and 26-year-old Jose Maria, and 21-year-old Angel dela Cruz Alvaren.

Suspects who were arrested by the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU) and the Provincial Intelligence Unit yielded approximately 200 grams of shabu.

Intelligence reports listed Shiela as a major drug suspect for Western Visayas. Her brother Jose Maria was listed as a major drug suspect for Iloilo.

The Yus were engaged in fish trading but allegedly diversified into the illegal drugs trade.

The two IPPO units were backed by the Lemery Police Station, the Carles Municipal Police Station, the Iloilo Provincial Mobile Force Company, and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-6.

The Police Regional Office (PRO)-6 cited the arrest of the suspects.

“The arrest of the four drug suspects shows a successful operation that has good coordination between the police and other government agencies,” said Police Brig. Gen. Sidney Villaflor, PRO-6 director.

Suspects face charges for violating Republic Act No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Drugs Act of 2002.
