Mayor Tiangco breaks ground for Navotas housing project
Navotas City Mayor John Reynald "John Rey" Tiangco, along with officials of the National Housing Authority (NHA), led the ground breaking ceremony for the Navotaas Homes 3 - Tanza housing project on Tuesday, Aug. 8.
The housing project will be built on 5.6 hectares of land in Barangay Tanza 1 and will have 24 five-storey buildings with 1,440 21-square meter units for Navoteño families who currently live in "danger zones."
Each room will have a laundry area, toilet and bath room, and a kitchen counter, the city government said.

The project will also feature different facilities including a playground, parks, health center, an elementary school, and a daycare center in the future.
Present during the groundbreaking were Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) Secretary Jose Rizalino Acuzar, National Housing Authority General Manager Joeben Tai, DHSUD Undersecretary lawyer Avelino Tolentino III, NHA- National Capital Region (NCR) North Regional Director Engr. Jovita Panopio, city and barangay officials.
“A number of Navoteño families still live in danger zones along the coast or waterways. That is why we give high priority to providing safe and quality homes," Tiangco said.
"Although Navotas is small in terms of land area, we will continue to work, in partnership with the NHA and DHSUD, to provide more housing options for our people," the mayor added.
The local government said it already has five in-city housing projects with 2,187 total units for families who lived in danger zones or were affected by fire and other disasters.
According to the city government, the housing projects were built in Barangays Tanza 2, San Roque, NBBS Dagat-dagatan, and NBBS Kaunlaran.
