Mati City mayor lauds opening of new hotel

DAVAO CITY – Mati City Mayor Michelle Nakpil Rabat expressed confidence that the city can keep up with other cities after a first-of-its-kind premier hotel opened on Tuesday, August 8.

In her message, Rabat said the Adelina Hotel and Suites, which presents an array of meticulously designed rooms, has 95 rooms that could cater to tourists and Very Important Persons (VIPs).

“I was very hopeful that someday Mati City will have its premium hotel that we can compete with externally,” Rabat said, adding that she was earlier doubtful due to the pandemic.

"Plans were derailed, I hesitated and doubted whether the developers would continue the project as we did not know when we could recover from Covid. Everyone was grieving," she said.

Now, Mati City has a premium hotel, Rabat said. She added that the city, known as among the tourist destinations in Davao Oriental, can start inviting guests like Philippine Basketball Association players.

The hotel has 12 standard rooms, 74 deluxe rooms, two executive kings, three executive suites, a family suite, a presidential suite, and an Adelina suite. The executive suites have bathtubs.

"We are so happy and proud because we know that Mati City is a tourist hub. It is perfect timing as soon, Davao Oriental will open its gates and borders to the world,” Rabat said.

The city mayor thanked the Adelina Hotel and Suites for putting up such a business, because aside from more tourists coming in, over 100 residents in the city got jobs in the hotel.

“Miracles do happen as long as you have it in your heart that you want it to happen,” Rabat said.

Adelina Hotel and Suites Chief Executive Officer Francisco Mejares thanked the city government and assured guests they would provide excellent service, embracing its tagline "The Heart of Mati."
