K-dramas 'King the Land,' 'D.P.' 2, 'Uncanny Counter' 2 in Netflix's Global Top 10 list

The Korean dramas “King the Land” and “D.P.” season 2 landed on Netflix’s Global Top 10 list again while “The Uncanny Counter Season 2: Counter Punch” made its debut. 

Netflix released the latest weekly Global Top 10 list of the most watched shows and films on the platform from July 31 to Aug. 6. 

Under the non-English TV category, “King the Land,” which aired its last episode on Aug. 6 in South Korea, entered the top 10 for the eighth week at No. 3 with 3.6 million views or 66.4 million hours viewed. It entered the top 10 in 43 countries and territories.

Netflix now ranks shows and movies based on views “from Monday to Sunday of the previous week. We define views for a title as the total hours viewed divided by the total runtime. Values are rounded to 100,000.”

“D.P.” season 2, starring Jung Hae-in and Koo Kyo-hwan, entered the Global Top 10 for the second week at No. 5 with 2.9 million views (15.4 million hours viewed). 

The series is about a team of DP (deserter pursuit) that catches people who abandon their military units. Season 2 highlights abuse and bullying in the Korean military and the cover-up by military officials. 

It entered the top 10 in South Korea (No. 1), Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam, which all impose compulsory military service, and Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan and Malaysia. 

The Korean fantasy series “The Uncanny Counter Season 2: Counter Punch” debuted at No. 7 with 2.2 million views (10.4 million hours viewed).
