Major Gen. Elpidio Talja of the Philippine Air Force (PAF) Reserve Command said that the Philippine ROTC Games was conceptualized by Sen. Francis Tolentino in partnership with the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), the DND, and CHED.
Talja said the games featuring athletics, arnis, basketball, boxing, kickboxing, volleyball, and e-sports mainly aim to foster camaraderie among ROTC cadets as well as become an avenue for athletes to show their potential to national teams.
Another goal of the games is to push more college students to join the ROTC which has a pending bill that will make it mandatory once again.
