Parañaque City Mayor Eric Olivarez said a total of 844 students graduated from the alternative learning system (ALS) on Wednesday, Aug. 9, at the Parañaque City Sports Complex.
Olivarez said from the 844 students, 140 graduated from the elementary level and 704 from the junior high school.
The mayor, the guest speaker during the graduation ceremony, thanked the Department of Education (DepEd) Schools Division Office of Parañaque, under the leadership of Dr. Nerissa Losaria, for her cooperation and hard work in the implementation of ALS in the city’s 15 barangays.
Olivarez also thanked DepEd Parañaque and the teachers for their support and diligence in teaching the ALS students.
He said the city government is encouraging all residents who can take the ALS program, which is a practical learning system that provides a practical option to the existing formal education.
The mayor also encourages the ALS graduates to continue with their studies in senior high school or to the non-formal education for them to become successful in life.
