The Parañaque City government turned over on Saturday, Aug. 5, P116 million as payment to the owner of a 5.3-hectare lot in Sampaloc Site in Barangay BF Homes that is being occupied by more than 4,000 families.

Mayor Eric Olivarez and his brother, Rep. Edwin Olivarez, led the turnover of payment to Steve Hontiveros, who owns the lot located at Purok 1 to 6 Samaploc Site II.
Olivarez said the 4,000 families in Purok 1 to 6 in Sampaloc Site, Barangay BF Homes were occupying the lot of Hontiveros for 30 years.
He said the families will be paying their shares of the lot at a cheaper price.
The mayor said the plan for the local government to buy the lot started during the term of his father, former Mayor Dr. Pablo Olivarez, who is now a barangay chairman in San Dionisio.
Olivarez said his brother continued the plan when he was also still the mayor of the city.
The acquisition of the lot was finally made possible through City Resolution No. 071, series of 2023, passed and approved by the City Council.
