Painter gunned down in house rental dispute

TANAUAN CITY, Batangas – A 29-year-old painter was killed following a house rental dispute on Sunday afternoon, August 6, in Barangay Bagumbayan, this city.

Police identified the victim as Lester Patega.

Investigation said the victim and the father of the suspect, Alfred Landicho, 38, had a hearing at the barangay hall about house rental. The suspect’s father is the house caretaker.

The dispute was settled but Landicho arrived armed with a handgun and shot the victim in the head.

Bystander Jaymar Davan, 25, was wounded by a stray bullet.

Landicho escaped onboard a motorcycle towards Barangay Tinurik here.

Victims were taken to the Laurel Memorial District Hospital where Patega was declared dead and Davan under treatment.

Police recovered two fired cartridge cases for caliber 9mm in the crime scene and investigators are conducting follow-up investigation.
