BUTUAN CITY – A magnitude-four earthquake jolted Davao Occidental province on Monday morning, August 7.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the earthquake was registered at 1:49 a.m. and its epicenter was located 327 kilometers (kms) southeast of Balut Island, municipality of Sarangani, Davao Occidental province.
The tremor had a depth of 73 kilometers and Phivolcs does not anticipate any damage from this tectonic earthquake.
Phivolcs expects no aftershocks.
Minutes earlier at 1:34 a.m., a magnitude-4.1 tremor also rocked the province at 1:34 a.m. and its epicenter was located in Balut Island. It had a depth of 78 kms.
The Office of Civil Defense (OCD) in Southern Mindanao and Davao Occidental Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council reported no damage or injury from the two earthquakes.
