The award-winning theater actress recently announced that she has been tested positive for COVID-19 through a Facebook post. According to Lea, she got her result on Wednesday, Aug. 2, and decided to isolate herself from the cast.
"Hi, everyone! So perhaps a few of you that have been coming to Here Lies Love, this week noticed that I haven't been in the theater since Wednesday. Well, I tested positive for COVID, and thus made the decision to isolate and stay away from work. Thankfully my overall symptoms were mild, quite a different experience from my first bout with the virus," Salonga wrote in her post.
Playing the role of Benigno Aquino's mother, Aurora Aquino, Lea joins as the guest performer for the show for five weeks. She also mentioned that her original plan is to make her comeback on the weekend show but to ensure the safety of the cast and audience, she will return on Tuesday.
"Although I did wish to return by the weekend, COVID had other ideas, so out of an abundance of caution for audiences, co-workers, and myself, I opted to take all the time to rest and heal. I intend to come back to The Broadway Theatre this Tuesday," she added.
At the end of her post, Lea thanked her fans for the support and announced that she would put the autograph signing on hold until further notice to ensure everyone was safe.
"Since I'm still on the mend, I will opt out of the stage door autograph
signing until further notice. As wonderful as it is to connect to you all after the performance, I need to take care of myself. Thank you so much for ou show! Can't wait to get back on the dance floor!," she wrote.
