Scattered 'habagat' rains to persist in parts of Northern Luzon
Some areas of Northern Luzon may continue to experience scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the southwest monsoon, or “habagat,” the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Sunday, Aug. 6.
Scattered rain showers and thunderstorms may prevail over Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Batanes, and Babuyan Islands in the next 24 hours.
PAGASA warned of possible flooding or landslides in these areas caused by occasional moderate to heavy rains.
Meanwhile, the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or localized thunderstorms.
PAGASA also advised the public to remain vigilant due to the possibility of flooding or landslides during severe thunderstorms.
Weather specialist Daniel James Villamil said PAGASA has not monitored a low pressure area that may affect the country in the next few days.
