VP Duterte to student-athletes: 'You are all winners'

Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte lauded student-athletes who pursued their passion in sports, and encouraged them to continue being agents of change.

During the closing ceremony of the Palarong Pambansa 2023 on Saturday, Aug. 5, in Marikina City, the official congratulated student-athletes.

“You are all winners in your own right, and we laud your dedication to your chosen passion,” she quoted herself in a Facebook post.

The official also shared photos of herself celebrating among the student-athletes.

“Mabuhay kayong lahat at patuloy kayong maging ehemplo ng pagbabago sa inyong kapwa (Long live and may you continue to be examples of change to your fellowmen),” Duterte wrote.

The closing ceremony also included the ceremonial acceptance of Cebu City Mayor Mike Rama as the province is set to host the Palarong Pambansa next year.

The Vice President thanked the coaches, schools, families, and communities for the support given to the student-athletes.

She also extended her gratitude to Marikina City Mayor Marcy Teodoro and the local government for the success of the Palaro.

The Palarong Pambansa is an annual multi-sport event participated upon by student-athletes from all over the country.
