Jino Ferrer, the marketing head of Nike Philippines, reiterated the importance of going green for a sustainable future as they used recycled materials composed of manufacturing scraps, old shoes and other footwears for the flooring of the courts.
“That’s the whole point, the reason why Nike went into sustainable materials is because we’ve been producing millions of millions of shoes every year. So, in order for us to give back or [to] protect the environment, the initiative of the company is to make things in a way, circular. Hence, we will have this very conscious effort and intentional effort to continue to see how excess materials for footwork apparel to [make] courtyard” Ferrer said.
“It’s been a priority of Nike to continue to support women’s sports. Especially here in the Philippines, we understand there’s still (this) inequality on how [we] support women in sports. As a brand we feel it’s our responsibility to be one catalyst of that,” he added.
