To combat fake news and the dangers it may bring to the public, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) officially launched an anti-fake news campaign dubbed "#SaTrueLang."

The initiative is also a response to the president's call to strengthen government agencies' efforts in fighting misinformation.
DSWD Assistant Secretary Romel Lopez and Director Aldrine Fermin presented the program's official campaign video during its launch on Friday, Aug. 4.
"Dubbed as #SaTrueLang, the campaign aims to protect the clients and the general public from any misleading content and information proliferating online," said Lopez.
The official noted that most of the agency's clients often find it hard to determine whether the information they get online or from neighbors is true.
"Let us all join hands to achieve the goals of #SaTrueLang. Let us practice to ask questions, investigate, and be critical so as not to become a victim of false information," Lopez stated.
Meanwhile, Fermin advised that the DSWD will spearhead and participate in information caravans where they will conduct in-person orientations on how to differentiate legitimate and fake content.
He also reminded the public to only get information from the agency's official social media sites and website.
