Taguig LGU opens bivalent vaccination in health centers
The Taguig City government opened the administration of the bivalent Covid-19 vaccine in barangay health centers on Aug. 4 covering priority groups, including senior citizens.
The administration of of the vaccine, which is a booster shot, was for all individuals at least 18 years old belonging to A1 (healthcare workers), A1.8 (outbound overseas Filipino workers within the next 4 months), A1.9 (immediate family members of healthcare workers), A2 (senior citizens) and A3 (persons with comorbidities).

“Bivalent vaccines can provide protection against two virus strains: the original COVID-19 strain and Omicron subvariants. The original vaccine shot is called the monovalent because it targeted only one strain,” according to a Facebook post by the Taguig City government. It said that the “bivalent booster can be the first, second or third booster as long as they have at least 4 months interval from their 2nd primary dose or their first or second booster of the Covid-19 vaccine.” The city government started the administration of the bivalent Covid-19 vaccine to hospital frontline workers last June.
