In a Facebook post, the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Hosaka was appointed to the position on Aug. 3, 2023, alongside Marius Corpus, who will serve as the body's chairman. Hosaka was the Supreme Court spokesman for three chief justices, including incumbent Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin, Diosdado Peralta, and current Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo. Online news site Abogado said Hosaka was a founding partner of the Paner Hosaka & Ypil Attorneys-at-Law, who obtained his AB Interdisciplinary Studies (Merit Scholar) and Juris Doctor degrees from the Ateneo de Manila University in 1993 and 1998, respectively. Hosaka also served as Deputy General Counsel of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines. The GCG is a central advisory, monitoring, and oversight body that formulates, implements, and coordinates policies to govern GOCCs. GOCCs are agencies organized as stock or nonstock corporations with functions relating to public needs, whether governmental or proprietary, and owned by the Philippine government directly or through its instrumentalities, either wholly or to the extent of at least a majority of its outstanding capital stock. The GCG ascertains whether GOCCs should be reorganized, merged, streamlined, abolished, or privatized in consultation with the department or agency to which a GOCC is attached.
